The Reverend Dr.

David E. Hardy

Send Email

The Rev. Dr. David E. Hardy serves as the Pastor of Living Grace Lutheran Church.  First called to the Atlanta area in 1997 to be the Pastor of St. Matthew Lutheran, he was further called to Living Grace when St. Matthew and St. Michael's Lutheran merged in 2004 to become Living Grace.

Though born in New Hampshire, Pastor Hardy grew up in North Carolina and attended Lenoir Rhyne University, Hickory, NC.  Upon graduation, he went on to study and graduate from Waterloo Lutheran Seminary in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada.  Before coming to the Atlanta area, he served the Lutheran church in Canada as a parish pastor in Newfoundland and Ontario.  For 10 years he was the CEO of Canadian Lutheran World Relief responsible for the international relief and development work of all Lutheran churches in Canada.  He has much international experience in all kinds of settings.  He received his Doctor of Divinity from Gurukul Lutheran Seminiary in Cheni (Madras) India in 1991 in recognition of his service to the people of the developing world.

Pastor Hardy has seen the successful merger of two congregations and the relocation to and building of a new worship facility in his time among us.  Dr. Hardy has served on a number of local service agency boards and currently is the Chair of the Board of Lutheran Services of Georgia.  He and his wife, Marlene, both hold dual citizenship in the United States and Canada which, as he says, allows them to pay taxes twice over.
